Unwanted Top & Bottom Padding

🧩 Why It Happens

Extra spacing at the top or bottom of your page is usually caused by your WordPress theme, not Elementor itself. Many themes automatically include padding or empty areas such as headers, footers, or top bars—even if you’re not using them.

🛠️ Step-by-Step Fixes

1. Adjust Theme Settings

  • Open the WordPress Customizer by going to Appearance → Customize.

  • Look for settings related to:

    • Header

    • Footer

    • Top Bar

    • Spacing or Layout

  • Disable any unused sections or reduce the padding/margin values to zero.

  • Every theme labels these differently, so explore the layout, spacing, or general appearance sections.

2. Apply Custom CSS (If Needed)

If the theme settings don’t give you full control:

  • Use browser developer tools to inspect the space and identify the element causing it.

  • Add custom CSS to remove the space. Example:

header, footer { padding: 0 !important; margin: 0 !important; }
  • You can also use negative margins if needed, but apply carefully to avoid breaking the layout.

3. Regenerate Elementor CSS Files

After making styling changes:

  • Go to Elementor settings → Tools.

  • Regenerate CSS files to apply changes properly.

  • Clear your browser cache and any caching plugins to reflect updates immediately.

4. Test with Another Theme

To confirm the issue is theme-related:

  • Temporarily switch to a default WordPress theme (like Twenty Twenty-Four).

  • If the padding disappears, it confirms the problem lies in your original theme.

  • You can then either change themes or look for precise instructions from your theme provider to fix it.
